About
Dušan Sretović was born in 1995 in Belgrade, Serbia. He has dedicated the entirely of his young life to discovering and exploring different sides, aspects and parts of music, which lead him to becoming one of the most verstile musicians of his generation, with engagements as a solo chamber music pianist, vocal accompanist and an overall performer. Thoughout the years his numerous performances were often described as transcending and whimsical, and his interpretations full of personality and character.
He graduated at the prestige University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, where he is currently pursuing postgradual studies in the class of prof. Jasminka Stančul. Dušan already showed promisig talent and potential at a very young age, and has taken numerous steps to becoming a professional pianist. Even after an accident in 2007 in which he lost his left leg above the knee, Dušan kept his stamina and determination and continued performing. His mission is to inspire people and show them through his story that it isn’t about how you fail, but rather how you get up. Not long after accident, he started competing regulary and has since then won many awards in his country and abroad.
Some of the most recent are: Grand Prix at Odesa Music Olymp. 1st prize at “Four Notes International Piano Competition” in Dubai, 2nd prize at “International Moscow Music Competition” in Russia, 2nd prize at “ClaMo” in Spain and 1st prize at “Agustin Aponte” piano Competition in Tenerife, Spain. At Uttwil masterclasses in 2018 he was awarded an opportunity to perform the Liszt concerto No.1 with the Southwest German Philharmonic in Constance, Germany (2019).
He performed in some of the most perstigious concert halls across Europe, including Wiener Musikverein, Bank Austria Salon (Altes Rathaus), MuTH Wienna, Concert hall “Kolarac”, Belgrade and others.
Projects with a message and purpose have been a great passion for Dušan considering his own unusual journey with a physical impairment. One of such projects was “In the light of darkness”, a concert in the dark in honor of visually impaired people in Serbia.
Dušan is kindly supported by St. Stephan Lions Club.
